What DJUD collects, why, for how long, who can access it, and how to exercise your rights, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act. DJUD only collects what the service needs, sells no data, shows no advertising and uses no audience measurement or tracking tools.
1. Data controller
Jacob Abecassis, publisher of DJUD, who can be reached at djud.contact@gmail.com for any question about your data.
2. What is collected, why and for how long
Your account
- Data
- Email, password (stored encrypted, never readable), first name, last name, account type (student or buyer).
- Why
- Creating your account, signing you in, identifying you to other members.
- Legal basis
- Performance of the contract (the terms and conditions you accept when signing up).
- Retention
- As long as the account is open; deleted as soon as you close your account (Settings → Delete my account).
Your public profile (student)
- Data
- Username, photo, banner, school, discipline and, if you provide them: programme, class year, city, bio, seller status and SIRET (professional sellers).
- Why
- Showing your profile, portfolio and pieces; telling buyers whether you sell as an individual or a professional.
- Legal basis
- Performance of the contract; legal obligation for the seller status (French Consumer Code, art. L111-7).
- Retention
- As long as the account is open. This information is public by nature.
What you publish
- Data
- Feed posts, slides and photos, portfolio projects, pieces for sale, comments, likes (including on comments), follows, favourites.
- Why
- Running the network: showing your content and your interactions.
- Legal basis
- Performance of the contract.
- Retention
- Until you delete them, or when the account is closed. Posts, comments and the list of people who liked a post are visible to everyone; your favourites are visible only to you.
Your interests
- Data
- The disciplines you choose when you arrive on DJUD or in your settings (fashion, ceramics, photography…).
- Why
- Putting posts from these disciplines first in your Feed and among suggested students. Nothing else: no advertising profiling.
- Legal basis
- Performance of the contract (the service you personalise).
- Retention
- Until you change them, or when the account is closed. Visible only to you.
“Open to opportunities” (student)
- Data
- If you say so: what you are looking for (internship, work-study, job, freelance, commissions), from when, where, whether remote work suits you, a short introduction, and who can see it.
- Why
- Letting houses, brands, studios and galleries know you are available.
- Legal basis
- Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time (badge turned off or “Clear all”).
- Retention
- Until you clear it, or when the account is closed. Visible to everyone, or only to verified houses, as you choose; never when the badge is turned off.
Houses (brands, studios, galleries…)
- Data
- For a house: its name, type, city, website, description, fields, logo and banner; the accounts that manage its page; the details given for its verification; the students it follows; its private shortlists of students and the notes written in them. For a student: the verified houses following their work.
- Why
- Letting houses present their activity and follow the students they spot; checking that a house is who it claims to be, to protect students from fake offers.
- Legal basis
- Performance of the contract; legitimate interest (students’ safety) for verification.
- Retention
- As long as the page exists; deleted with it, or when the account of its last member is closed. A verified house’s page is public, as is the list of houses following a student on their profile; the accounts managing the page and the verification details are visible only to the DJUD team. A house’s shortlists and notes are visible only to its members; a student can ask the DJUD team what a house has noted about them.
Jobs and applications
- Data
- For a house: its jobs (type, title, role, disciplines, location, start, duration, pay, deadline) and the account that posted them. For a student: the jobs you applied to, your optional message and the house’s answer (sent, seen, shortlisted, not selected).
- Why
- Letting verified houses post internships, work-study places, jobs, assignments and commissions, and students apply in one click with their profile and portfolio.
- Legal basis
- Performance of the contract.
- Retention
- A published job is public while it is online; when the house deletes it, it disappears with its applications. An application is visible only to you and the members of the house concerned; you can withdraw it at any time, and it is deleted when the account is closed.
Briefs and contests
- Data
- For a house: its briefs (challenge, text, what to submit, prize, disciplines, cover image, deadline), its awards and the jury’s note. For a student: the briefs you enter, the portfolio project chosen, your optional note and your award (winner, finalist, mention).
- Why
- Letting verified houses launch creative challenges and students answer them with their work, then highlighting the awarded projects.
- Legal basis
- Performance of the contract.
- Retention
- A published brief is public. Your entry is seen only by you and the house until the results are announced; the award stays private, even from you, until then. After the results, all entries (name, school, project) are visible on the brief’s page and awards on profiles. You can withdraw your entry at any time; it also disappears if you delete the project or close the account.
Messages
- Data
- Conversations, messages, price offers, collaboration proposals.
- Why
- Letting members talk, negotiate and close a sale. Messages are analysed automatically to block contact details and outside payment methods (protection against scams).
- Legal basis
- Performance of the contract; legitimate interest (members’ safety).
- Retention
- As long as one of the two accounts is open; messages remain visible to the other person after your account is closed, under the name “Deleted account”.
Orders
- Data
- Piece bought, price, fees, delivery (name of the person collecting the parcel and relay point), tracking number, dates, any dispute, Stripe payment identifiers.
- Why
- Carrying out the sale, protecting the buyer and the seller, handling refunds and disputes.
- Legal basis
- Performance of the contract; legal obligation (accounting records).
- Retention
- 10 years from the order (French Commercial Code, art. L123-22), including after the account is closed, without your name.
Your signature and certificates of authenticity
- Data
- Student: the signature you draw once. Each certificate records, at the moment you sign it, the piece (title, category, year, materials, characteristics, rarity, photo), your name, school, programme and class year, the buyer’s first name and last initial, the date and your signature.
- Why
- Giving the buyer a signed certificate attesting the origin of the piece, and letting anyone check its authenticity with its code.
- Legal basis
- Performance of the contract (the sale).
- Retention
- The signature: until you change or delete it, or when the account is closed. Certificates: as long as the order (10 years), because they attest the origin of the piece. The full certificate is visible only to the buyer and the student; the public verification page shows neither the buyer nor the signature.
Payments and payouts
- Data
- Your card details and, for sellers, their identity and bank account are collected and kept by Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., never by DJUD. DJUD only keeps the Stripe account identifier and its status.
- Why
- Paying securely online, verifying sellers’ identity (a Stripe requirement) and paying them.
- Legal basis
- Performance of the contract; Stripe’s legal obligations (fraud and money-laundering prevention).
- Retention
- According to Stripe’s policy; Stripe acts as data controller for this data.
Notifications and activity
- Data
- Who followed you (including houses), liked, commented or replied; your sales; applications and entries received by your house, houses’ answers to your applications and the results of briefs you entered; read or unread status.
- Why
- Telling you what happens around your profile (the heart and the handshake).
- Legal basis
- Performance of the contract.
- Retention
- As long as the account is open.
Safety and moderation
- Data
- Reports (by you or about your content), blocks, servers’ technical logs (IP address, pages requested, including searches typed, date and time).
- Why
- Protecting members, preventing abuse, handling reports, answering requests from the authorities.
- Legal basis
- Legitimate interest; legal obligation (EU Digital Services Act).
- Retention
- Reports: 12 months after they are handled. Technical logs: from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the hosts.
No automated decision producing legal effects is made about you. The site is for people aged 15 and over.
3. On your device
DJUD only uses essential cookies (your sign-in, your language) and some information kept in your browser (your latest searches, the draft of a post). None of it is used for advertising or tracking, so no consent is asked. Details in the cookie policy.
4. Who can access it
- Other members and visitors: only what is public by nature (profile, posts, comments, pieces for sale, pages of verified houses, their published jobs and briefs, houses following a student, brief results). An application is seen only by the house it is sent to.
- The buyer and the seller of an order: what is needed for delivery (name and relay point).
- Our providers, who process data on our behalf and according to our instructions:
- Supabase Inc. (database, files, sign-in), data stored in Germany (Frankfurt), in the European Union;
- Vercel Inc. (website hosting), United States;
- Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. (payments and payouts), Ireland.
- Only if you use the “Remove background” tool on a photo: your browser downloads the artificial intelligence model from Hugging Face (huggingface.co) and its engine from jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net), which then see your IP address. The photo itself stays on your device.
- Only if you play a video in a portfolio: YouTube or Vimeo, depending on the video.
- The authorities, on lawful request.
When data is processed outside the European Union (Vercel, Hugging Face, jsDelivr in the United States), the transfer is covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
5. Security
Encrypted connection (HTTPS), encrypted passwords, access to data limited by strict database rules (each member only reads and changes what belongs to them), no banking data held by DJUD.
6. Your rights
- Access and portability: Settings → Download my data gives you everything DJUD keeps about you, in one file.
- Rectification: directly from Edit profile.
- Erasure: Settings → Delete my account, at any time (except while an order is in progress).
- Objection, restriction, instructions after death: by writing to djud.contact@gmail.com.
You will receive an answer within one month. If you believe your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr/fr/plaintes).
7. Changes
This policy may change with the service. In case of a significant change, you will be informed on the site before it takes effect.
